“O son of Adam

Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “O son of Adam, indeed it is better for you to spend (in charity) and to withhold is evil for you, although there is no reproach (if you withhold) for necessary living. Begin with your dependents, and the upper hand (that gives) is better than the lower hand (that takes.)
[Sahih Muslim, Book 5, Number 2256]
